10. Fantastic Four
Fantastic Four is the tale of a group of four young scientists who achieve superhuman abilities through a experiment gone wrong. If you were to ask me not long ago if I was excited for this movie I would probably tell you not only I wasn’t excited but also that I forgot it was even happening. Though after not only seeing who the writer, director and actors are, but following with a standard but promising trailer I have hope that the Fantastic Four will be redeemed from their terrible predecessors. I had nothing but low expectations originally and seeing a decent trailer made me say maybe this will be good. At the very least the teaser teased me just enough to turn around and say yeah I want to see this movie. And I really do hope it is good.
9. Terminator Genisys
Never in my wildest dreams did I expect to see Arnold starring in another Terminator movie and that alone makes me excited enough to give it a try. Sure we haven’t seen a good Terminator since T2 however I think the premise of this one is different enough that it will either totally suck or knock it out of the park. I have a feeling there won’t be any middle ground here. I give it a 50/50 shot of either one happening and I really look forward to seeing what happens. Personally I really hope it does succeed because I would love to see a modern day terminator movie be awesome. Also as a side note I hope this an R rated movie, sometimes action movies just work better that way and looking at which Terminator movies are good and which are bad there is a clear divide on ratings.
Ant-Man is a Marvel superhero who develops a suit that allows him to both shrink in size as well as increase in strength. Honestly I don’t know what to feel about this movie. On the one hand it is Marvel, and even though I’m not so in love with Marvel that I feel they only can make gold at the moment. They all have been at least perfectly passable decent movies with a number of jewels, and due to their shared universe the ones that are just mediocre become better on the basis that they tie in to a grander scale of the MCU in total. On the other hand the trailer wasn’t very impressive and Paul Rudd is really hit or miss for me. However I am excited to see how this goes mostly because this will likely be the first of the Avengers members introduced which will be taking over the team once the current actors are on their way out.
There is a significant jump in my excitement level between 8-10 and number 7. One of my favorite actors of all time is Will Smith, and I’m really glad to see him in a movie since it feels like it has been some time(I don’t count anything made by M. Night Shyamalan as a movie anymore). I think this role a con artist will really allow Will Smith to show how amazingly charismatic he can be. However the other reason I’m excited for this movie is the fact that we get to see Will Smith and Margot Robbie together in a movie more than a year before Suicide Squad.
As a long time James Bond fan I am always excited to see a new Bond film. Daniel Craig definitely isn’t my favorite James Bond but I do like him and he is great at doing action scenes. Even though I feel he isn’t quite suave enough to be James Bond I can’t deny 2 of his movies, most notably the most recent, have been very good Bond movies. I really look forward to seeing what they do to follow up Skyfall. I hope they use a few more gadgets and have a stronger villain, but I think they have proven they make good Bond films and I will always welcome a new addition. One thing I like about James Bond is there have been so many Bond films it never feels like its getting old.
5. Jurassic World
If I was asked a few years ago which I found more likely a terminator starring Arnold again or another sequel to Jurassic Park I would have never put money on Jurassic Park. I’ve heard about this movie for a long time, but I never thought it would happen. I never ever thought even if it did get made I would be excited to see it. However if nothing else in the trailer captured me the slow piano of the original soundtrack gave me goosebumps and that alone would have put me in a seat on opening day. However I really think that the premise of the movie might actually work. The feel a get in the trailer actually reminds more of the book then the original movie, and I think the premise is strong and the movie shows promise. Like Terminator I think this movie will be absolutely terrible or incredible, and being the optimist I am I really hope it will come in strong.
4. Inside Out
PIXAR is an amazing and innovative company. They have had so many amazing movies it is obviously no accident and with maybe 2 exceptions every original movie they release has been phenomenal. It has really upset me to see them making so many sequels and prequels over the past few years. The only one I’m truly glad they made was Toy Story 3. I just love to see what they come up with next and snapshot we get with each movie. I’m not all that interested to know about the Monsters in College or pretty much anything in the Cars universe. I want to see them do what they do best, that is being clever and original. Inside Out is very exciting, it has the exact right perfect PIXAR quirky premise and I really think they are going to make another classic movie here.
I honestly know very little about Tomorrowland other than the description on imdb. However I like that, there are too many movies now a days that give you the whole movie in the trailer. Every trailer I see for this movie gives a sense of wonder, mystery, and amazement. The film looks beautiful and immersible, and I can’t wait to learn about Tomorrowland as I’m watching.
2. Avengers Age of Ultron
I don’t think it should be surprising to anyone that Avengers in on this list, after all the first Avengers did what comics have been doing for decades, yet no movie had done before. Unlike Ant-Man when I first saw the Age of Ultron trailer I couldn’t wait to see the movie, and I’m far more a DC fan than Marvel. There really isn’t much else to say about Avengers this movie is going to be huge and I really hope they keep the quality of their movies at the bar they have already set. Or better yet I hope they raise it even further.
1. Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens
If you have read my previous posts my number one shouldn’t surprise you in the slightest. I’m a huge Star Wars fan and I cannot wait till the new movie comes out. I absolutely loved the teaser and I can’t wait to be back in the Star Wars universe with all the aliens, and sounds, and music. I have high hopes for this movie, and can’t wait to see what J.J. and Disney do with the property. I really think this will be the redemption of Star Wars and am so glad it didn’t end with the prequels.
